I can’t decide if I like it or not. It’s not what I’d like to see done to a Mustang but it’s an off-year (’72-’73) and, being in Iowa, was probably a rust bucket if it was done in the last 20 years. It’s definitely not fiberglass, either. They removed the rear bumper and made a rolled rear pan (’50s/’60s custom technique) to replace it. That, the filled-in side marker lights and the fender flares make me think that those areas were probably rusted and this might have been a creative and fun way to save this semi-classic from the crusher. No matter what, though, the Halloween paint scheme is lame.

The kid who drives this is in High School hear in Ankeny Ia. I remember people doing this to cars in the late 70′s and this is a pretty good example of one. I would say his redneck midwestern dad had this before him. I have seen it covered in mud so I would say he at least uses it. I would also say if he does not have a Mullet his dad does!!!

That is probably what happened to my first car if it was in Ankeny. A 1971 Mach 1. Sadly those often unloved years are worth major cash now.
