Aside from the eagle with the “ORLY?” expression and text below it aside, I really like this. I hadn’t seen another conversion done using a New Beetle before and it looks like they did a really good job. The paint work looks top notch, too. For a place where people toss out racial slurs like Halloween candy on a daily basis around here, it’s pretty ironic to see mention of VW having once used slave labour.
FYI, that was on order of Hitler, not the company itself. Ferdinand Porsche and other company people were against it, but Hitler wanted cars pumped out as quickly as possible and did not think the Allies would bomb the auto plant with prisoners working there.
I’ve said this before somewhere but if you can afford a Beetle you have no excuse to be driving one. They’re way too expensive and the cuteness factor wore off as soon as people learned that a new Beetle was in design.
Seriously! You’re driving around in a car with a frickin eagle superimposed over the Stars and Stripes, in a customized car with bloody ugly chrome fakestacks and airhorns and the whole ensemble literally screams “HEY Y’ALL! LOOKIT ME!” and you have the cojones to call yourself a conservative? To quote Dickens – “I’ll retire to Bedlam”
I used to work around the corner from this guy. My british-born boss and i loved seeing this nimrod scoot around the neighborhood. he’s an older guy, and definitely a republican douchenozzle (btw, for those of you who are confusing political conservativism for introverted solitude, may i remind you that republican conservatives are truly dumb enough to give american money to a german company using mexican labor and still consider themselves patriots… just saying)
and ironically, the mexican born immigrants working at the same company as him, probably spend more money on american products that this guy does… who’s the real patriot?
